Why is my RAM showing 4800MHz instead of the expected 6000MHz?

I'm having an issue with my RAM speed on my PC. Even though I have enabled EXPO, it shows that I'm running at 4800MHz instead of the desired 6000MHz. Can anyone offer any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

It might help to check if your BIOS is updated. Sometimes an update can fix compatibility issues with RAM speeds. Have you done that yet?

Make sure you have XMP (or EXPO in your case) enabled in the BIOS. That should set your RAM to run at its rated speeds.

You should download CPU-Z and check the Memory tab to see what frequency it reports for your DRAM. Remember, DDR means Double Data Rate, so your 3000MHz should ideally show as 6000MHz. If it's still not showing correctly, let us know your CPU, RAM, and motherboard details.

I've got CPU-Z already from my ASUS motherboard, and it shows the DRAM frequency fluctuating around 3000MHz. Does that mean I'm running okay? My setup is ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus Wifi, AMD Ryzen 9800X3D, XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070 XT, and G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB (2x16) DDR5-6000 CL30.

If it's fluctuating a lot, that might be normal for certain settings, but it definitely sounds like you should confirm with BIOS settings too!
