I'm getting a new PC build soon and I'm thinking about moving from Linux Mint to Arch Linux. I'm worried that Arch might be too difficult to manage, so I'd like recommendations for distributions that offer more flexibility without being overwhelming. I also damaged my current Mint installation after changing the os-release information, so I may be starting fresh anyway. Would Arch be a reasonable choice, or should I try an Arch-based or gaming-focused alternative first?

Arch is manageable if you’re comfortable researching problems, reading documentation, and using the terminal. If you want the Arch ecosystem with a simpler installation, CachyOS or EndeavourOS could be good starting points. It’s still worth learning how the system works instead of treating a different distribution as a shortcut.
You don’t need to choose a distribution because it seems popular or impressive. Start by listing what matters to you: ease of maintenance, gaming support, customization, reliability, or learning more about Linux. Mint is already a solid choice, while Bazzite, Nobara, CachyOS, and other options each prioritize different things.
Arch expects you to understand more about the boot process, package updates, and system maintenance. You may need to plan updates and occasionally resolve package issues yourself. Try it on a spare drive or reserve some disk space for testing so you can migrate gradually rather than making it your only system immediately.
