I have a setup with a 256 GB SATA SSD that houses my operating system (OS) and a 1 TB hard drive for storage. Recently, I got a 1 TB NVMe SSD and I'm considering transferring my OS to it. Since my SATA SSD is mainly for the OS, I wouldn't really lose anything, but I'm concerned that putting it on the NVMe might cause some issues. I've heard that it's better to keep the OS on a separate drive. Is it worth making the switch?

Honestly, moving your OS to the NVMe SSD will probably not make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use, but it's definitely a good idea if you want to optimize performance.
If your SATA SSD is working fine for now, you could just keep it as is. When it comes time to reinstall your OS, then you could switch it over to the NVMe SSD. Otherwise, if you're itching to make the change now, go for it! It should still boot up quickly off the SSD. Just make sure you keep backups of anything important just in case!
You should definitely put your OS on the fastest drive available, which is the NVMe in your case! There's really no reason to keep it on the SATA SSD, especially since you're already looking to upgrade. Go ahead and make the move!
I always say, start fresh! If you can, unplug your current SATA SSD, install Windows on the NVMe SSD, then plug the SATA back for any files you want to keep. That way, you’ll have a clean slate and the best performance.

Thanks for the advice! I'm glad to hear it's the right move.
