Is it worth moving my OS to a new NVMe SSD from my SATA SSD?

I've got a 256 GB SATA SSD that currently holds my operating system and a 1 TB hard drive for other files. Recently, I picked up a 1 TB NVMe SSD and I'm considering transferring my OS to it. Since the SATA SSD is only used for my OS, I wouldn't be losing any data. However, I've heard some say that it might lead to issues if the OS isn't on a separate drive. Should I go ahead and make the switch to the NVMe SSD for my OS?

I always say starting fresh is the best way to go! Unplug the SATA SSD, install Windows on the NVMe, and once you're all set up, you can reconnect the SATA and transfer any files you need before repurposing it.

That sounds like a solid plan! Just make sure you back up everything important before erasing the SATA.

Honestly, moving the OS to the NVMe SSD won't make a noticeable difference for most users. If the SATA is working well enough for you, there's no rush!

Definitely put your OS on your fastest drive, which in this case is the NVMe. It’s been common to have your OS on SSDs for a long time now, so moving it will just optimize your system's performance.

If you're happy with how fast your OS boots from the SATA SSD, it's fine to leave it there for now. But when you next reinstall, consider moving it to the NVMe SSD then. You can even partition it if you want to keep things tidy.
