What’s causing the crackling sound from my old monitor?

I've got a 12-year-old Iiyama 24-inch monitor that just started making a crackling sound that sounds like it's arcing. Since I've got a tech background, I'm familiar with troubleshooting, but this is new to me. The monitor uses CCFL backlights, so I'm wondering if the bulb is finally giving out. The noise is coming from the top back of the monitor, not from the speakers. Any ideas?

You know, if it's a CCFL monitor, it might just be time to think about replacing it. Those things don't last forever, and monitors are pretty affordable now, especially on eBay or from thrift stores. You could probably snag a decent one for under £30!

I get that you're a software dev, but sometimes it's good to ask for help. Just because you work in tech doesn't mean you're an expert on everything, especially electrical stuff. Knowing when to reach out is a smart move!
