Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a tricky situation. I'm a summer intern and recently found a brand new iPad Pro 2 that belonged to someone who is no longer with the company. The problem is that I can't access his Apple account because his work email has been disabled after his termination. I do know the phone number associated with the account, but it's also no longer active. Without the password or access to two-factor authentication, I'm stuck. I spoke with Apple Support, and they said I need proof of purchase to reset it, which we don't have because the company doesn't keep those records for more than a few years.
My boss said I could keep the iPad if I can wipe it, but I'm not sure how to go about that. Is there any way to hard reset this iPad, or should I try to find one of those kiosks at the mall to help me out? Any advice would be super helpful!

I think you could also reach out to your IT or finance department for the receipt. They might have a record of the purchase even if it’s been a while. That could help you with Apple Support.
If you have the email and phone number, you can try recovering the account through Apple's account recovery page. Just follow the process there for cases where you can’t access the email or phone, and it should guide you through it. After recovery, you’ll be able to change the account details and remove it from the iCloud services.
I tried that, but no luck. Every time I attempt recovery, it says I need access to the email or phone number, which I don't have. So, I'm still stuck.
Your best bet might be to check out a local repair kiosk or tech shop. They often have tools or methods to bypass locks, but just make sure they're reputable—it can be a bit sketchy sometimes!
I actually did that, but they don't keep those records for terminated employees, especially from three years ago. Guess I'm really out of luck!
