Should I Reformat My PC After Finding a Trojan Miner?

Hey everyone! A few days back, my Kaspersky Plus antivirus detected a Trojan miner related to the DuckDuckGo browser (just to clarify, I'm not implying that the browser itself is infected). Kaspersky suggested that I should format my PC, but honestly, it's running pretty smoothly and not showing signs of overheating or slowdowns. The only issue is that it doesn't go into sleep mode automatically. My RAM usage is at 44% even with no programs open, but I think that's just Windows 11. I've scanned with both Kaspersky and MalwareBytes, and both came back clean. I'd appreciate any advice on whether I really need to reformat. Thanks!

If you're experiencing issues with your system settings, definitely consider reformatting. Just be cautious about any changes to your BIOS or disk setup, as you might accidentally lose your data if you’re not careful! Double-check your backups first.

I get where you're coming from, but if your antivirus detected something, it’s better to be cautious. A full reinstall from a USB created on another device is the safest route. You want to make sure that any hidden threats are completely gone. Just back up your important data before you proceed!

Absolutely! Prepping your backups is key. I once lost a ton of data because I didn’t check before making changes.
