Why Does Steam Work on Wi-Fi but Not on Ethernet?

I'm having a weird issue where Steam works perfectly fine over Wi-Fi, but when I switch to an Ethernet connection, I can't connect to CS2 servers or any other game servers. I can download games at full speed on Ethernet without a hitch, but multiplayer connectivity is just not happening. Anyone know how to fix this?

What kind of error do you get when you try to connect to the game servers? If you’re seeing something like 'Failed to reach any official servers,' that might give us a clue.

Check if you have any VPN running when using Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Also, are your public/private network settings different for LAN compared to Wi-Fi? If the Wi-Fi and LAN share the same modem, see if there are any NAT/PAT rules affecting it. And make sure UPnP is enabled and your firewall isn't blocking something.

You mentioned using both connections at the same time. Did you set your network metrics correctly? This might help in resolving issues with routing.

I have both set to public network. My IPv4 starts with 169, and I don't have any VPN active.
