I'm looking to build a server-like system using the i7-14700K and I'm curious if anyone has any opinions or better recommendations. My budget is around $1000, and I'm focusing on maximizing cores and threads.

Personally, I’d recommend looking at the 12900K instead of the 14700K unless you specifically need the extra clock speed and E-cores. Just depends on your needs.

It's primarily a server build with no GPU, and yeah, I’m sticking to that $1000 budget.
Be careful with the i7-14700K. There have been issues with it degrading unless you update the BIOS to the latest version. Some people have pointed out that Intel wasn't upfront about this problem for a long time, so if you get a brand new chip and are comfortable updating the BIOS, it should be fine. However, buying used could be risky since it might have already suffered damage. Just something to keep in mind!
That’s not entirely accurate. It really differs from chip to chip. I’m running my 13900K from launch day, and it’s worked perfectly fine. Just be cautious with used options; they come without warranties and you can't know how well they've been treated.

If you have a Micro Center near you, consider getting an Intel Core 7 265K bundle. It comes with a solid integrated GPU and the bundles are often quite competitive in pricing.
I appreciate the suggestion! I might use a modified version of that list. I haven't really explored Intel's newer offerings or Ryzen due to motherboard price concerns.
