What Type of Hard Drive Should I Get for My Acer GX-781?

Hey everyone! I recently got an Acer GX-781 from a family member, but it didn't come with a hard drive. I'm clueless about what kind of hard drive I need to buy. Is there a specific type I should look for, or can I pick any drive as long as it fits certain specs? I realize the PC is a bit older, so I'm not expecting to play the latest games like Genshin Impact. I just want something that can handle lighter games like The Sims. Sorry if this sounds like a total newbie question, and English isn't my first language, so I apologize for any terminology errors! Any tips would be super helpful!

Any SATA drive should work just fine for your setup. I’d suggest looking into a 2.5" SATA SSD, as they are a bit less common but still available.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! How about this one: Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD? It looks like the one that was in there before.

That one won't work for your setup. You need a SATA m.2 SSD instead; it might have a similar shape to NVMe but the connection type is different. A 2.5" SATA SSD is also a solid option. Check out this list for compatible options: [link to pcpartpicker].

You might want to go for an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive. Most PCs from the last 20 years can support 2.5" SATA SSDs. However, you'll need to check if your Acer can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs, which are more common these days.
