Hey everyone! I inherited an Acer GX-781 from a family member, but it didn't come with a hard drive. I'm totally clueless about what type of hard drive I need to get. Are there specific specs I should look for, or can I go with pretty much any hard drive? Keep in mind the PC is a bit older, so I'm not expecting it to run the latest heavy games like Genshin Impact, but it would be cool if I could play something like The Sims. Sorry if this is a basic question—any advice would really help! (Also, English isn't my first language, so I hope I'm using the right terms!)

You should be good with any SATA drive. A 2.5" SATA SSD is a solid pick, although they're not as common as regular hard drives. It should fit just fine in your Acer.
I'd recommend going for an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive. Any PC from the last couple of decades would work with 2.5" SATA SSDs. Just a heads up, check if your system can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs too—those are the newer, faster ones!
I appreciate all the suggestions! What do you think about the Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD? It looks somewhat similar to the previous one I had, but I'm not sure if it'll fit.
That won’t work for your setup. You need a SATA M.2 SSD instead. While it has the same shape as the NVMe, the interface differs. Alternatively, just grab a 2.5" SSD—they’re both compatible, just different sizes.
