I've been trying KDE Plasma on different distributions like Kubuntu, Arch, and Fedora, but it's been frustrating. Windows freeze during closing animations, hover menus look weird, and I encounter other graphical glitches. I've made sure to install all the necessary drivers for my Nvidia graphics card. I recently switched back to GNOME on Ubuntu, as it seems to work better for me. I'm just puzzled as to why KDE performs so poorly on my relatively new machine when it's supposed to be lighter than GNOME.

Could it be a hardware issue? What are your specs? It might help to figure this out.
I’ve been enjoying KDE on Fedora without any serious issues. Maybe try out different setups to see if they run better.
If you installed KDE on top of GNOME in Ubuntu, that can lead to weird issues. A clean install of Kubuntu is usually better.
Actually, I did a full wipe and installed Kubuntu cleanly, so that shouldn’t be the problem.
I had a similar experience with KDE on Kubuntu where updates broke my system. But switching to Arch with KDE has been smooth sailing! Maybe give that a shot if you haven’t already.
I tried both KDE Arch and Kubuntu today. I had a lot of UI issues with Kubuntu, like half the screen going black, and on Arch, a game I wanted to play didn't work properly. It’s a mess!
I’m using an Nvidia 2060, Intel i5, 32GB of RAM, and an ASRock B450 Pro 4 motherboard with both 500 GB and 120 GB SSDs.
