Looking to Upgrade My PC for Gaming and Storage

I have an ASUS Gaming Desktop PC with an Intel Core i5-9400F, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, which I bought back in 2020. It's been running well, but I'm running low on storage, and I've noticed my performance isn't as good as my friend's newer PC. I know very little about PC parts or overclocking, but I want to learn more. I see things like PCB builder, but I'm unsure what the components do. Any advice on how to get started with an upgrade would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

First off, check what kind of power supply unit (PSU) you have. A simple way to increase your storage is by adding another SSD if your motherboard supports it. This can make a big difference for gaming.

I believe I have a 500W 80 PLUS Gold power supply if that helps!

I totally get where you're coming from! My PC knowledge was pretty outdated until I got back into it in 2020. What really helped me was watching PC build videos on YouTube. Channels like Linus Tech Tips and Jay's Two Cents cover everything from budget builds to high-end setups. I just let them play in the background while I do other stuff, and it really helped me familiarize myself with the components. Just remember, it's not always about having the latest GPU; having specs that fit your needs is what's important. I play at 1440p and I feel like my setup is good for now.

Yeah, I feel the same way. But then I see my friend with his "5090" and it makes me feel like my setup is outdated, even though I still get decent FPS!
