Help! How can I watch movies and series on Fedora 42?

Hey everyone! I recently switched to Linux just a day ago because of some computer issues, and I'm having trouble watching movies and series for free. I'm using Fedora 42 with GNOME, and honestly, I'm a bit lost on how to get this working. I thought maybe disabling uBlock Origin would help, but even after doing that, the videos still won't play. I've been looking for answers on Reddit, but it seems like I'm not using the right terms in my searches.

I'm low-key worried about whether this subreddit is okay with discussing certain content, so I've kept it vague. I just really want to rewatch some comforting movies without paying for a million streaming services. Any help would be awesome!

Also, I just wanted to mention that I figured out it was a database error that was causing the issue – I can watch my movies now! Big thanks to anyone who tried to help! ❤️

You need to swap the free media codecs for those from RPM Fusion. Just head over to the RPM Fusion site for some guidelines on how to set it up. That should definitely help with playing your videos!

Make sure to install all the codecs, and if you can, check out Stremio along with the necessary plugins. That setup usually works well for watching movies and series on Linux!
