How do I stop my TV remote from controlling the wrong TV?

I've got two Vizio TVs at home: one in the living room for gaming and another in the bedroom for movies. We only have one remote, but lately, when my parents try to use it on their bedroom TV, it ends up controlling the living room one instead. I'm looking for ways to fix this, especially since they aren't really tech-savvy and won't use the app I suggested. Any advice on how to stop the remote from messing with the wrong TV?

I recommend taping over the living room TV's IR receiver as well. With any game consoles or TV sticks, they can usually wake the TV up using CEC when needed. Just check around the standby light for the IR receiver is all!

Why don’t you just swap remotes? I mean, if you’re only using one remote and it stays in the bedroom, that could be a quick fix.

Ah, we actually only have that one remote, so it’s not really an option to swap.

A simple fix would be to cover the IR receiver on the living room TV with tape. That way, the remote won’t interfere with it when they're trying to use it in the bedroom. Just a heads up, make sure the room doors are closed since IR signals need line of sight! Sounds like a hassle, but it could work!

I like the tape idea! The distance should help too, but it’s worth a shot.
