Is My Friend’s GPU Dying?

So my friend's Gigabyte Radeon 7600XT seems to be acting up. She has a Ryzen 5600, a 650W PSU, and a Gigabyte motherboard running Windows 10. I have an Intel 12600k with a Seasonic 750W PSU and an Asus Prime motherboard on Windows 11, and I'm using an Nvidia 3060ti. We've swapped GPUs to troubleshoot, and the issues persisted, with sudden power-offs happening only when framerates are unlocked during intense gaming sessions. Surprisingly, when locked at 60fps, everything runs smoothly. I've checked temperatures, which were in the low 80s Celsius at the hottest spot, and my UPS only showed a maximum power draw of 530W. My friend hasn't had any problems with my GPU for the last two weeks. There are no BSODs, no event viewer logs other than a simple shutdown message. Anyone have any insights on what's going on?

First off, hot spot temperatures can be misleading without knowing the room temperature. You might also want to measure the power draw from the GPU at both the PCIe slot and the external power connectors. Sometimes the power supply can be a culprit. Also, check if there were any firmware updates for the GPU around the time these issues began. If so, reverting to a previous version might help.

I didn't think about that! You're right; I've got no way to measure power draw. What should I be looking for specifically if I could?
