I'm thinking about enrolling at Ivy Tech, and I'm stuck choosing between software development, information technology, and cloud technology programs. I worry that a cloud tech degree might be too broad since I can always pick up certifications later. I'd love to hear your thoughts and get any advice you might have!

Honestly, if you have good certifications alongside any tech degree, you'll be in a great spot. If I were in your shoes today, I'd aim for a broad degree that involves a lot of human interaction. Cloud roles could get overshadowed by AI advancements, so consider your options carefully!

I would skip the cloud tech degree in favor of a Software Development degree plus some AWS or GCP certifications. This combo offers more job opportunities while still aiming for cloud-related roles.

Most people here seem to suggest going with a Software Engineering or Computer Science degree. Those fields are solid foundations for any IT career, including cloud technology.

Computer Science or IT would probably suit you well, but experience is key. For example, I hold a BA in Statistics and Economics, but I'm currently thriving as a Cloud AI/ML Engineer. Trust me, I've met great engineers with unique degrees, like one who majored in History!

I went for an Information Systems degree, which strikes a good balance between CS and IT. Either IS or CS would set you up nicely, but focus on developing real skills. Learning a language like Go for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is in demand in the cloud space and could really boost your job prospects!
