I recently snagged an Office 2024 key from a site called mysoftdeals.com for a fantastic price, and I received the key immediately. However, when I tried to activate it, I got hit with a phone activation request, which is something I've never encountered before. I'm kind of wary about calling an automated number. Is this phone activation a typical requirement for these kinds of keys? I'm just wanting to make sure I'm on the right track here. Any thoughts would really help!

It sounds like you might have bought a key from a sketchy source. Often, grey market keys end up being sold multiple times, and once they've been activated too many times, they'll force you to call in. They could ask you questions and possibly deny your activation. If you reach out to the seller, they might send you another key, but there's a risk it could just be another shady one. Remember, genuine Office keys are usually way more expensive than what you paid.
Or just go for a legit key using the Microsoft Authenticated Services script—you'll get a proper version that won’t create hassles.
Yep, phone activation can be needed sometimes, especially for region-locked enterprise keys. Basically, it gives Microsoft a bit of info about your location. But keep in mind, if you're having to activate this way, it might mean your key isn't a standard one and could potentially be flagged or revoked later.
Looks like the OP's just advertising that shady key website. Their history's a red flag.
