Been Struggling with Packet Loss for 2 Years—Any Ideas?

Hey everyone, I'm at my wits' end with a serious packet loss problem that's been plaguing me for two years. I'm experiencing significant packet loss (up to 12-15%) while gaming, and this happens daily multiple times. Once it starts, the only way to stop it is to reboot my PC or router. It affects all my devices, whether it's PCs or consoles, and happens in every online game. I've had my ISP send out technicians several times. Initially, a tech told me the coax outlet cable wasn't crimped and he fixed that, but it didn't help. They even replaced a shorted receiver box outside and all the ONTs. I've swapped out my routers and ethernet cables, so I've literally replaced every piece of hardware related to my internet connection. I've rebooted everything countless times, yet I'm still facing the same packet loss issues. I've tried contacting the technician again, but he ignored my messages, and my ISP has been unhelpful, claiming there are no issues on their end. After a few calls, they finally sent another tech who ran a pingplotter test and noted packet loss in one of the hops down the line, saying he would look into it but he never followed up. It's been a few months since then, and I'm still stuck with this problem.

I'm really frustrated as this has killed my online gaming experience for two years now. I'm wondering if there could be an underlying electrical issue in my house causing this. Could it be a grounding issue or unstable voltage? I've noticed that during packet loss, it primarily shows incoming packet loss without any outgoing loss. Any thoughts or suggestions?

It sounds like a tough situation! I would suggest considering switching your internet provider if it keeps happening. Since you've already done so much troubleshooting, it might just be a persistent issue with the line itself. Have you tried connecting directly to the ONT and bypassing the router? That might help rule out whether the router is part of the problem.

Yes, I tried connecting directly to the ONT and it still didn’t fix the issue. The fact that it's specifically incoming packet loss makes me really wonder where it's coming from. I'm definitely on the fence about switching providers, but I'm also starting to think there might be some weird electrical issue causing all this.
