I'm currently using a 23-inch, 1080p monitor that's around 10-15 years old, and while it's served me well, it's starting to show its age with scratches and wear. As a college student, I'm not looking for top-of-the-line specs—just something that's a decent upgrade. I had previously purchased an innocn 32m2v for $550, but I returned it due to various issues. Any suggestions on a good monitor for my needs?

What kind of games do you usually play? If you're into story-driven games like Skyrim or Dark Souls, you'll want something that enhances that experience. A decent 27-inch monitor might be a good fit for you!
Check out the MSI G274PF! It's a solid 27-inch 1080p monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate. Great for both gaming and general use.
I was actually considering going for a 1440p or even 4K if it's not too pricey.
I've found that 27-inch 1440p monitors at 144Hz offer a sweet spot. The upgrade feels incredible when coming from a smaller monitor like yours!
Make sure to check out monitors in stores to see them in person. While reviews are helpful, nothing beats seeing things like motion blur and color accuracy yourself. OLEDs are amazing, but they're pricey, so keep an eye on other options in your desired range.
Around here, stores are super expensive for monitors, though.
If you decide to stick with 1080p, I'd suggest going for a 22-inch size. It can look almost as good as 1440p on a larger screen. Look for a monitor with an IPS panel and a brightness level above 300 nits for vibrant colors and a high refresh rate!
I'm not too keen on competitive gaming, though.
I mostly stick to story games, not really into competitive stuff.
