I accidentally deleted my OneDrive folder while using WinDirStat, and now it seems like I've lost all my photos and desktop icons too. I tried reinstalling OneDrive, but I keep getting errors, like it saying it's not installed or giving me error code 0x8004def7. Plus, when I check the OneDrive website, it shows only my files from last year, which means my computer isn't synced properly. Is there any way to recover those lost files?

To start, go into your OneDrive settings, choose 'Account', and hit 'Unlink this PC'. After that, link it back again. If you've deleted files from OneDrive online, check the Recycle Bin there — you might be able to restore them. But if OneDrive syncing was off, those files could be gone for good. You can try recovery software like EaseUS, but the sooner you act, the better.
Be careful and stop using your computer if those files are really important — you might want to shut it down and connect the drive to another PC for recovery.
If I can't recover the original files, is there a way to create new Desktop or Pictures folders? Because I can't seem to find those now.
