Why is my PC’s WiFi download speed so much slower than my other devices?

I recently got fiber optic internet installed, boasting download speeds of up to 500Mbps. While my phone, Steam Deck, and PS5 hit those speeds when connected via WiFi, my PC only gets around 80Mbps on the same connection. I've tried adjusting the settings in device manager by setting the Band Selection to '5G only' and the Preferred Band to 'Prefer 5GHz band' like I've seen recommended. Swapping between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks gives me speeds of 30Mbps to 80Mbps, which is still far from what I should be getting. Unfortunately, I can't use an Ethernet cable since mine isn't long enough. My setup includes an MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard with an RZ616 WiFi 6E 160MHz adapter. Any suggestions on how to improve my download speed?

First off, double-check that your WiFi antenna is properly connected to your motherboard, as this could really impact your speeds. Also, if your PC is relatively far from the router, that might explain the slower performance. If it turns out your motherboard is supposed to come with an antenna and it didn't, you might want to consider picking one up since they can make a big difference in signal strength.

Have you considered the placement of your router? Sometimes, even just moving it a little can help boost your PC's connection. If you can, try to get the antenna for your motherboard to improve the signal. And, if possible, see if you can temporarily get a longer Ethernet cable to rule out WiFi issues completely.
