Hey everyone! I think I messed up something here. My kid accidentally locked me out of my iMac account, and it said to wait 24 hours. Well, it's been over a week now, and I'm still getting the 'account locked' message. I've managed to change passwords on my iPhone and can log into my Apple account on the web and use Apple Music on my PC and Android, so I know the password is right. However, I still can't access anything on my laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like you might be mixing up your Mac password with your Apple ID password. They're not the same thing! You can check this support page for more info on unlocking your account. Yeah, deactivation can be extreme! Just follow the steps to reset your password, it should help you get back in without going that route.
Oh, I thought they were linked like a Windows account! When I try to reset it, the only option I see is to deactivate this Mac, and that sounds a bit scary.
