Hey everyone, I'm not super tech-savvy, but I'm having an issue with my monitor. I think it might have overheated, but I can't really tell if the problem is with the monitor itself or the power cord. I don't have any extra gear to test either one. The cord that plugs into the wall has a blue light that usually lights up when it's working. Would that light still turn on if it's plugged into something that isn't functioning? I just want to know if, in general, when that light is off, it means the cord is faulty, or does it indicate that whatever it's connected to is dead? Thanks for your help! Sorry if this is confusing!

Generally, if there’s a light on the power cord, it’s meant to show that the cord is getting power. If the light isn’t on, it usually suggests that there’s a problem with the cord itself or its connection. There can be exceptions, especially with things like laptop chargers, but for monitors, that light is a pretty reliable indicator.
It sounds like the power cord you’re using is actually the power supply, which is often external. There’s a good chance it’s simply gone bad. They’re usually not too expensive to replace!
Thanks! Do these cords tend to overheat and fail? I’m thinking that might be what happened since it was really hot today and I didn’t have the AC on. I kept the bulky power supply part away from any barriers, but it was pressed against a wall.
