I'm looking to buy a CPU and I'm considering using an Intel i7-14700K or the 14700F to pair with an Intel 5070 for gaming at 1080p and 1440p. What's the actual difference between the two models? I've heard AMD CPUs are generally better now, but in my area, they're mostly out of stock and priced pretty high. I appreciate any suggestions!

When you break it down, the i7-14700K is actually a solid choice, especially if you're looking at performance for the price. It outperforms the AMD 9700X in many games and delivers better multi-threading too! The key differences are that the 14700F has a lower stock speed by 200MHz, consumes less power, and lacks integrated graphics. If you plan on sticking to stock settings, you probably won't notice much difference, especially at 1440p. But the K version is great if you ever want to overclock.
If you’re thinking about performance and getting faster RAM—like 8000MHz—then definitely consider the K variant. It clocks higher right out of the box and gives you room for overclocking, which can push performance even more. But keep in mind, overclocking isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!
What if I’m not interested in overclocking?
