I'm using a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop that doesn't have a DisplayPort, and I just bought an LG 27GS60QC monitor that supports up to 180Hz. However, when I connect them using an HDMI cable, the maximum refresh rate I can select is only 144Hz. Is there any way to get the full 180Hz refresh rate without a DisplayPort?

It's all about the HDMI version! If your laptop, monitor, and cable aren't all at least HDMI 2.1, you're stuck with lower refresh rates. Unfortunately, you can't just upgrade the HDMI version unless you get a new laptop or GPU that supports it.
The capability to support higher refresh rates through HDMI really depends on the version. Your laptop and the HDMI cable need to support at least HDMI 2.1 to hit those higher refresh rates. But since you have a laptop that doesn't have a DisplayPort, you're pretty limited here. The model matters too, if you could share what GPU you have, that would help in figuring this out!
Oh yeah, the monitor is the LG 27GS60QC.
Unfortunately, you'll not be able to achieve 180Hz without a DisplayPort. Your laptop simply lacks that port, and an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter won’t work. If you want to utilize the full refresh rate, you'll need a device with DisplayPort output.
Ok, got it! Thanks for clarifying!
I see, thank you for the info!
