I'm in the process of deciding between the Steel Series versions of the 9070 XT and the 9070 OC GPUs for my new PC build. There's a 40€ price difference, but that's not the main issue for me. I originally planned to go with a 7800 XT but learned more about PC building and shifted my focus to newer models. I considered the 9060 XT but realized it might bottleneck my R9 7900X CPU, and I believe I have enough budget to get a better card. I bought an 850W fully modular Gold 80+ PSU, which seems sufficient, but I've seen that the Steel Series version of the XT requires at least 800W. I'm also only looking to do some light gaming on a 2K monitor. Given all this, should I go for the XT or the OC?

Go for the 9070 XT, especially for just an extra 40€. Your 850W PSU is plenty, so you shouldn't have any issues. I run my setup with a 9070 XT and a 750W PSU without problems, so you'll be fine!
Definitely pick the 9070 XT for the additional 40€. Your 850W PSU will handle it perfectly without any concern. It's a solid choice for light gaming at 2K.
Thanks for the quick response! I'm leaning towards the XT now!
Always choose the XT unless the non-XT is way cheaper, like 20% less. The performance difference isn't huge, just about 15%. The 9070 XT has better value overall, and don't bother with older series cards since they lack support for newer technologies. Plus, you're better off with the 9000 series for better ray tracing and FSR support.
That's interesting! I was thinking about getting the Nvidia 5070 instead. What do you think?
Definitely go with the XT, no doubt! I even have mine set up with a 600W PSU right now, so you’ll have no issues at all!
Honestly, the term 'bottleneck' can be overblown. A 7900X paired with a 9060 XT should work fine since they perform similarly. Your 850W should be sufficient as well.
That's a good point! Would I even need to upgrade to the 9070 if that's the case?
The 9070 XT will work great with your setup. The 850W is sufficient, and I've seen many people running the XT on similar power supplies without a hitch.
Thanks a ton! You're a lifesaver!
