My Windows 10 Internet is Acting Weird—Help!

Hey everyone, I'm kind of losing my mind over here! My PC's internet connectivity is really strange right now. The Ethernet cable is plugged in securely, and I even removed and cleaned the network card. Here's the kicker: my internet works on some sites but not on others. For example, Discord works perfectly fine, but the Discord website and many other apps struggle to load at all. When I do a speed test, it shows a download speed of around 500 Mbps and a latency of just 13 ms. However, when I run the ping command in CMD, I get pings of 180 ms or more. Games like Valorant and FiveM won't connect, showing pings around 500 ms. On the bright side, sites like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Google, and Mercado Livre are working like a charm. Initially, I noticed a yellow exclamation mark on my network adapter in Device Manager, but I updated the driver and that went away. Still, the network troubleshooter keeps throwing up an error related to the file: oem26.inf, without giving me any error code or helpful details. I've been searching for answers online but haven't found anything useful. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'd really appreciate any guidance!

It sounds like you might have a DNS issue. Try checking if your DNS is being hijacked. A quick fix could be downloading some malware removal tools like Malwarebytes or ADWCleaner to your USB and scanning your system. That might help!

That's a big assumption about a hijacked DNS! OP could just run an nslookup to see which DNS server is currently in use. Might be worth checking before going down the malware route.

I’d suggest totally uninstalling your network adapter driver, then rebooting your PC and reinstalling the latest version. It’s also possible this could be a problem with your ISP rather than your PC. Your speed test results show that nearby services work fine, but if websites further away struggle, there might be routing issues. Try running a 'tracert' command to both google.com and some of the problematic sites to see where the latency increases. This can give you a better idea of where the hang-up is happening!
