I have a Dell R720 server that experienced a sudden power outage, leading to some errors like "delayed block allocation failed" for one of my VMs. Although the VM still boots and operates fine, I want to resolve these errors. I learned that I need to perform a RAID consistency check on the virtual disk to potentially fix this issue. Currently, I have an 8TB disk, and I initiated the check about 10 minutes ago, but it's still showing 0 percent. I'm trying to gauge how long this process typically takes and hoping it won't exceed a full day. Thanks for any insights!

The larger the disk, the longer the consistency check will take. Ideally, try to limit other activities on the disk, which can help speed up the check. However, if you're facing ongoing read or write errors, the check might not fix it—you might need to replace the failing drive. Just a heads up, ensure your backups are up to date, as you might be heading towards a disk rebuild soon.
So if I back up my data now, does that mean the backup will be safe from corruption?
