Hey everyone! I'm getting ready to apply to some universities and hope to start either this September or in January. I've been working through the Odin Project (still got some modules left to complete) and have a good grasp of JavaScript and Ruby. Plus, I'm familiar with OOP principles, the command line, Git, and testing. I've heard that the first year will primarily focus on Java, but a lot of the courses will involve languages like C and C++. Should I jump in and learn one of those languages before classes start? If so, could you suggest some resources to help me out?

It definitely wouldn't hurt to brush up on your math skills, though. Depending on the program, some areas like discrete math or statistics could be particularly helpful. Just try to review the fundamentals and get comfy with math concepts in case they come up!

Honestly, you'll probably be fine without needing to learn Java or C beforehand. Many of your classmates will start from scratch with programming, so you're already ahead of the game! Plus, it might be nice to take a breather this summer and enjoy some downtime before the classes begin.
