Hey everyone! I just got a Ryzen 5 5600 and tomorrow I'll attempt my first-ever BIOS update on my MSI B450-A PRO MAX motherboard. My current BIOS, as shown by CPU-Z, is from 9/18/2019, so it's pretty outdated. I'm wondering: should I go ahead and download the latest stable BIOS version right away, or do I need to install a previous version first before moving to the latest one? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Definitely download and flash the latest BIOS before you switch out your old CPU. It's the easiest way to ensure compatibility with the new Ryzen.
Go for the latest version right away. Your current BIOS is so old that it doesn't even support the Ryzen 5600, which came out after your BIOS was released.
It really depends on the manufacturer’s site. Sometimes, you might need an intermediate version. For your board, though, it looks like going straight to the latest is fine.
You can just install the latest version directly. It's the best approach since your BIOS is pretty old.
Yeah, and the latest usually includes all the updates from earlier versions, so it's a solid choice!
