I've got an RTX 5070 and I'm eyeing the rumored RTX 5070 Super, which might come with 18GB of VRAM. I own a 4K/60Hz monitor and I'm wondering if this upgrade is worth it, especially considering the RTX 5070 has 12GB and consumes 250W for around $550. What are your thoughts on the potential benefits? Will the rumored specifications of the RTX 5070 Super be significant enough to justify this change?

Honestly, it might not be worth upgrading right now. The 5070 Super isn't likely to be out for at least a year, so you might want to hold off until we see benchmarks and reviews. Plus, your current card can handle 4K gaming pretty well already if you tweak the settings a bit.

We don't even have a concrete release date or price yet, so it's tough to say. Your 5070 can handle 4K at 60 with optimized settings and features like DLSS, so it might be best to stick with what you have for now and see how the market develops once the Super is officially announced.

I've seen some reviews and comparisons on YouTube already. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks!

It'll be interesting to see how the 5070 Super stacks up against the 5070 Ti once it's out. However, I doubt the performance boost will be monumental. There’s not much out that fully utilizes 16GB of VRAM yet, so I’m not expecting huge gains. Still, who knows how demanding games will become in the future!

Right? It's hard to predict what future games may need. Staying aware of that is smart.

Exactly! If the rumors hold, it seems more like a small upgrade than a must-have.

If you're really eager for a change, you could check out the AMD 9070(XT) instead. Some say it offers great performance without the hassle of Nvidia's driver issues. Just keep in mind that AMD isn’t perfect either, but it can be a solid option now rather than waiting.

GraphicsGuru21 -

Yeah, but let's not pretend that AMD's drivers are flawless either. The ray tracing performance is also a gamble compared to Nvidia, so it's worth considering all angles.

Good point, but I'll weigh my options. Thanks for the heads-up!

Most likely, the new card will just feature a bump in VRAM without drastic performance improvements, maybe around 10-15%. Worth considering if you'll still be satisfied with your current card.
