My friend accidentally deleted several years of my YouTube watch history while using my phone. I'm really hoping to get that back. Is there any chance that YouTube has a backup of that data due to data protection laws? Can I contact them to recover it? If not, are there any simple methods to track my previously watched videos, like checking my browser history or router logs? I mostly use YouTube on my PC or over Wi-Fi, so I'm wondering if my router or browser might still hold some of that info.

Unfortunately, once your YouTube history is deleted, it's pretty much gone for good. That's just how the system is designed. Your router or browser history likely won't have it since you were using the YouTube app rather than a web browser. However, you can check your Google My Activity page where it might show some activity: myactivity.google.com/myactivity.
