I'm managing several Hyper-V virtual servers that run different editions of Windows Server and Linux. While I've been following the general advice that suggests a virtual memory size between 2x and 3x the allocated RAM, I feel like this guidance is outdated, especially since we're using enterprise SSDs now. Additionally, the recommendations on dynamic RAM seem inconsistent; for example, domain controllers may need some flexibility in RAM usage, but resource-heavy servers like Exchange and SQL don't handle dynamic RAM well. So, can we lower the 2x to 3x RAM recommendation based on faster disk solutions?
