Hey everyone! I'm currently a Senior Consultant with nearly 9 years of experience, primarily working in RPA, and I'm planning to switch into AWS technology by the end of this year or early next year. I'm curious—do I really need coding skills for this transition? I've started taking the AWS Cloud Certified Practitioner course on Udemy, but I'm wondering about the actual amount of coding involved. Any insights would be appreciated!

Honestly, it really depends on the specific AWS role you end up in. For positions focused on management or administration, coding might not be necessary at all. But leaning towards roles like development or architecture? Then definitely brush up on your coding skills! Overall, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with coding and API integrations as you advance.
For the AWS Cloud Certified Practitioner and other entry-level certs, you really don’t need coding skills. While having some coding knowledge can be beneficial for more advanced certifications like the Developer cert, most of it focuses on understanding AWS services rather than actual coding.
Thanks for clarifying! Just to add, once I'm moved to a project, will I need coding then?
If you're looking at getting certified, you won't need coding skills for the Certified Cloud Practitioner or Solution Architect Associate exams; it's pretty much zero there. But if you're aiming for a solid role in AWS, having some coding knowledge will definitely help. So it’s worth learning alongside your certification prep!
Thanks! I'm hoping these certifications will show my boss I’m committed to learning.
Got it! I know I need to improve my coding skills. Do you recommend a sequence for certifications?
