Is 7200MHz CL34 RAM a Good Fit for My AM5 Setup?

I'm currently putting together an AM5 setup and came across the Corsair 7200MHz CL34 Dominator Platinum RGB memory (32GB in a 2x16GB configuration). I'm wondering if this would be a good choice for my 9800X3D CPU and a high-end X670E motherboard. I've noticed that many people recommend 6000MHz CL30, but the 7200MHz CL34 option is a bit more affordable. What are your thoughts on this?

The recommended RAM specification from AMD is DDR5 6000 C30. My board supports DDR5 up to 8000, but I'm still using 6000 C30 for stability reasons—no noticeable gains in everyday use so far.

Thanks for the info! What timings do you run on your RAM in the BIOS? I'm considering getting 6000 C30 sticks myself and would appreciate any advice on configuration.

The general consensus is that 6000MHz CL30 is the sweet spot for AMD setups, as suggested by AMD itself. When pushing beyond that, you could face stability issues depending on your configuration, with minimal performance gains (like 1-2% in specific scenarios).

Interesting, thanks for the clarification!

Pro tip: Remember, bigger numbers don't always translate to better performance!

Are you sure the 7200MHz CL34 is actually cheaper than 6000MHz CL30? That seems a bit hard to believe, especially when looking at different model options.

Going with 7200MHz RAM with an AM5 chip likely won't give you the performance you're hoping for without some manual tuning. You might even run into boot issues or performance hindrances. Just a heads up!

If you don't plan on doing heavy overclocking, sticking with the recommendations is usually the best route for reliability.

I made the mistake you're thinking about a few weeks ago. Seriously, avoid anything above 6000 (especially C30) unless you know your way around BIOS tweaking. I went with a 6400 kit for my 9800X3D, and it was a nightmare—had to return it! Switched back to the recommended setup and it's been smooth sailing since.
