Hi everyone, I'm a professional videographer and I often come home with around 400-500 GB of footage from events, which I transfer from various fast memory cards. After a long day of shooting, having to download these files one by one is taking up way too much time. When I try to copy files simultaneously, the speed drops to 50 MBPS, which is frustrating.
I have a Dell Precision 7910 Tower with an Intel Xeon E5-2697 CPU, 128 GB of RAM, and a diverse storage setup that includes several high-capacity SSDs and HDDs. My current setup includes peripherals like a Prograde dual slot card reader that connects to the fastest USB ports available on my machine. However, when I'm transferring data from SD cards, it significantly slows down the copying speed.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to achieve the fastest possible transfer speeds from my external memory to my PC. Should I consider upgrading my motherboard for Thunderbolt ports, or is there something else I can do to improve my setup? I'm open to local tech support to help optimize my system as I have gigs every weekend!

Are you using CFExpress type B cards? If your cameras only take SD cards, make sure you're using the best available options. Prograde's iridium cards should give you decent speeds. Just keep in mind that copying directly to SSDs usually yields better results than HDDs because they can handle faster transfer speeds without significant drops as they fill up.
Consider upgrading to a modern platform with superior per-core performance and support for PCIe Gen 4 or 5. This won't change individual cihaz's speeds much, but it will improve overall performance when reading from multiple drives, transferring them, and video editing. I found some good budget options in Intel's Core Ultra range that could be perfect for your needs!

Thanks for the suggestions! I definitely need to look into upgrades that allow faster processing. Any tips on where I can get this done locally?
