I'm having a really frustrating time with my HDMI to VGA converter. I used to connect my old LCD monitor to my laptop as a second display, and it worked perfectly fine. But after playing around with the display settings, I accidentally changed the resolution to 1024x768@60Hz instead of 1600x900@60Hz. Now, I can't switch it back; the resolution options have changed entirely and then the screen went blank, with the monitor no longer being detected. I've tried so many things to get it recognized again, like connecting different monitors and laptops, using new cables and converters, and even switching to Linux, but nothing is helping. Is there something simple I might be missing? The HDMI port works fine with my TV, so I don't think that's the issue. I'm at my wits' end here!

Man, VGA converters can be such a pain! You might need to try a few different converters before finding one that works reliably. Just keep experimenting; it may take a while but one should eventually work!
Honestly, it might just be time to consider getting a new monitor. Sometimes these old setups just don’t play nice anymore.
Yeah, I might have to do that and just stick with my laptop's display for now.
If VGA is involved, you’re probably looking at an incompatibility issue somewhere in the signal flow. Those can be tricky to sort out.
Yeah, definitely avoid those "Made in China" ones. They can be pretty hit or miss.
