I recently gave my younger brother my old Lenovo X280, which I had converted into a Chromebook. Now, he wants to play games on it and has been frustrated about not being able to download Epic Games. I'm considering switching it to either Linux or Windows, but I'm leaning towards Linux since I use it myself. However, I'm unsure which Linux version would be best suited for his gaming needs. Any suggestions?

The kind of games he wants to play is also a big factor. If he's set on downloading Epic Games for Fortnite, you might have to go with Windows since Fortnite doesn't run well on Linux. But if it’s smaller games, Linux could work fine. Just check out whether the games he likes are supported.
It really depends on the specs of your laptop. Since the Lenovo X280 is on the weaker side, you might want to stick with a Linux distro you're comfortable with, since you’ll be assisting your brother. If you think Linux might be tricky for him, Linux Mint is a solid choice for beginners—easy to use and reliable!
If he's interested in something like Rocket League, that should run okay on Linux. I recommend looking into Bazzite as a user-friendly Linux distro to start with. It has a lot of features already installed, making life easier, especially for a younger player.
And if he wants Windows to play stuff like Fortnite, that's an option too. Just keep in mind that gaming on Linux can be hit or miss.
