I've been holding out for new GPUs from AMD and Nvidia, hoping they'd shake up the prices in the used market, but honestly, they're just getting more expensive! My temporary RX 5700 XT is starting to show its age for the games I'm into, and I'd like to sell it while it still has some value. What would you guys suggest for an upgrade in my price range? Here are some options I've found:
Nvidia:
- 3070 for 240-250€
- 2080 Ti for 250-260€
- 3080 (10GB) for 320-350€
AMD:
- RX 6700 XT for 220-250€
- RX 6800 for 290-320€
For new cards, I see:
- Intel B580 around 250€
- RX 9060 XT (16GB) for about 340-350€.
The used market feels pretty stagnant in Europe, and it seems like jumping a bit higher in budget doesn't yield significantly better options. I mostly play racing games, VR, MMOs, and gacha games. My monitor runs at 1440p 165Hz, so hitting 60fps would be awesome.
I'm questioning whether RDNA2 is still worth it in 2025 or if Nvidia's lower VRAM options are better for slightly better performance, even if I don't plan to utilize serious ray tracing. The RX 9060 XT does catch my eye, but I'm worried about its limited outputs and 128-bit memory bus, as those often age badly in my experience.
The Intel B580 is intriguing because it's a new card and seems good for the price, but I have no idea how it handles VR or how it pairs with my Ryzen 7 3700X. Any insight on the European market for GPUs or better deals would be great too!

The RX 9060 XT is a solid pick, especially if you're planning to upgrade your CPU later. Just be aware that it really needs a good processor to perform well. Also, the B580 is worth considering if you're looking for new options.
Are you strictly looking for brand new cards?
Just sharing my experience: the B580 has been a fantastic card for the price. That said, you might want a stronger CPU too. I moved from a 2600X to a 5700X3D while upgrading from a 1070 to the B580, and it was worth every penny!
For 1440p gaming, I think the 9060 XT 16GB gives you the best value right now compared to other choices around that price point.
Don't overlook the RX 6750 XT. Sometimes its price is close to the 6700 XT. It could offer better performance for just a bit more cash.
I'm okay with either new or used, as long as it meets my needs!
