Why Can’t I Play My Disc Games on Xbox Series S?

I recently bought a physical game for my Xbox One and I wanted to transfer it to my new Series S. I used the 'back up and transfer' option in the settings, but after it downloaded, I got a message saying that I don't own the game. What's going on?

The reason you're seeing that message is because the license info for disc games is stored on the disc itself. When you install a game from a disc, the license isn't transferred to the Series S. You need to have the disc in the console to play it, even if the game is installed.
