How Can I Upgrade to Windows 11 with an Unsupported CPU?

I just bought a new computer, and when I attempted to upgrade to Windows 11, I got a message saying my PC doesn't meet the requirements. I checked the specs and found out that while my motherboard meets the requirements, my processor, an i5-9400F, isn't listed in Microsoft's supported CPUs. What options do I have? Is it safe to continue using Windows 10 without security updates just for gaming, like League of Legends and Counter-Strike, especially since I don't have any critical data on the computer?

The main issue might be related to your TPM module. You should dive into your BIOS settings and search for anything labeled "TPM" or "Trusted Platform Module". Depending on your motherboard, it might be located under secure boot or similar settings. If you provide details about your motherboard, I could help pinpoint the setting.

I'll check that out! I had to step away from my PC for a bit, but I'll test it once I get back. Thanks!

That "something 2 something" likely refers to TPM 2.0. I’ve seen successful upgrades with older hardware than yours. Just be cautious; even if you think you have nothing valuable, never underestimate risks. If you're interested, I can share some files to help force a Windows 11 upgrade when I’m free. Just remind me on Monday!

If you’re only using the PC for gaming, you should be okay running Windows 10 without security updates. Just make sure you're careful online, and consider looking for alternative solutions just in case.

I might look for safer options on top of that. Thanks for the heads up!

A simple way around this is to use Rufus to create a bootable drive for Windows 11. This method allows you to install Windows 11 on almost any machine, regardless of age. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to repeat this step with each new version upgrade, but it’s manageable!

Good point! I'll keep that in mind for future updates.
