Do I need to upgrade my power supply for a 7800XT?

I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU from a 3060 12GB to a 7800XT, and I'm concerned about my power supply. My current build can be seen here: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dZggh7](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dZggh7). I know that power supplies are critical for performance and safety, and I want to make sure I'm doing this right. The retailer suggests that I need at least an 800W power supply, but I found an article on TechPowerUp that mentions a 650W PSU would actually suffice. I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses, but if I really need to upgrade, I will.

It sounds like you're cutting it a bit close. Generally, it's recommended to only use about 80% of your PSU’s capacity for efficiency and longevity. So while the 650W might work, it’s a little on the edge. Just keep an eye on your system's power usage after the upgrade!

Honestly, 650W is totally fine for a 7800XT. The TX series is a well-built PSU, so you shouldn’t have any issues there. You're good to go!

I've been using a 650W PSU with a 3080, which is even more power-hungry, for the past 4 years without any problems. So I think you’ll be okay with your setup!
