Why Isn’t My iCloud Family Ask to Buy Working?

I'm having trouble with the Ask to Buy feature in my iCloud family sharing. It's just my son and me in the family group, and we've always had this feature turned on. Recently, I've completely stopped receiving notifications about his purchase requests. Previously, I did sometimes get them as text messages, but that issue seemed to resolve itself. Now, I tried to approve a request in person directly on his phone, but when I clicked on the option, it pulled up a random email address to sign in, which is super confusing. I spent over three hours on the phone with Apple support, but no one could figure out what's wrong. We've tried turning off his screen time, signing him out of iCloud, and even removing him from the family sharing, but nothing has worked. Does anyone else have a similar experience? Oh, and we're both using iPhone 14s with iOS 18.5.

If that doesn't help, you might want to remove the entire family share setup and start fresh. It can sometimes fix glitches that just aren't resolving any other way.

I've heard there have been some weird bugs with iCloud lately, especially with the Find My feature not working well for many users. You’re not alone in this!

Really? Is it affecting a lot of people?

First, check if both the iPhones are updated to the latest software version. Sometimes, compatibility issues can cause features to misbehave. It's always best to ensure everything's running smoothly on the latest updates!
