I recently had a bit of a mishap and my iPhone 12 ended up in water for about a month. While it still works, there are some signs of corrosion. I'm considering getting a battery replacement, but I don't have AppleCare. Will Apple go ahead with the battery replacement even with visible water damage and corrosion? Has anyone faced a similar situation?

Most likely, they will refuse the service if they see signs of water damage. It's good to remember not to submerge your phone in water in the first place!
If you’ve got water damage or if the water indicator has changed, Apple is probably going to refuse to replace the battery. Even if they did, hidden problems can pop up later due to water damage, which leads to keep blaming Apple for it. It's just a tough spot to be in!
From what I've heard, Apple typically won't replace the battery if there's visible water damage. They're pretty strict about it since any damage needs to be repaired before servicing. You could try a local repair shop for a battery replacement, but just be cautious about that route.
You might as well ask them directly! A month is a long time for a phone to be underwater, so I'd be surprised if it comes out unscathed, but who knows? Sometimes you hear wild stories about survived phones!
