I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre that currently has a 3.5" Western Digital hard drive, and I'm looking to replace it with a 2.5" SSD. My question is, will I need to change any cables or deal with any complicated installation? I really don't have much experience with computers, so I want to make sure I don't run into any issues that could damage my new SSD.

You won't need to change the cables! A 2.5" SSD uses the same connections as a 3.5" hard drive. Just unplug the old HDD and plug in the new SSD. Just a heads up, you’ll need to install Windows on the SSD afterward, which you can do by creating a Windows installation USB from Microsoft's site.
You're good to go with the current cables as long as your ThinkCentre isn't super old. If it is, and it’s using IDE, things could get tricky. But for models made after 2005, the SATA connections will work fine. Just be aware that the 2.5" drive might require some creative mounting since it’s smaller. You could use just one screw or even leave it free inside if you’re feeling adventurous!
Just to clarify, if you want to keep all your data from the old HDD, you'll need to either clone it to the new SSD or transfer files over manually. There are plenty of cloning tutorials available online to help you with that. Good luck with the swap!
