I'm planning to build a PC this summer and need some advice on RAM speeds. Should I opt for RAM rated at 5600MT/s or 6000MT/s? The AMD website mentions that the maximum speed supported is 5600, so would that actually be better, despite the higher speed of 6000MT/s? I'm looking for the best option here!

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D officially supports up to 5600MT/s, but anything above that is considered overclocking. AMD calls it EXPO now, while Intel has XMP. Real-world performance shows you could see about a 3% increase in gaming performance at 1440p with 6000MT/s, and even up to 5% at 1080p, especially if you're using a higher-end GPU. That's why many recommend the 6000 30CL—it’s not much more expensive but gives you noticeable gains!
For gaming, the difference between 5600MT/s and 6000MT/s is pretty minimal—you might not even feel it. Since the price difference is slight, I'd say go for the 6000MT/s for a bit of extra performance.
According to AMD, 5600MT/s is the official max speed they support. However, in practice, a lot of users report that 6000MT/s works fine—about 90% of the time! I'd recommend going for DDR5-6000 CL30. If it doesn't work perfectly, you can always manually downclock it to 5600MT/s if needed.
Thanks for the tip!
6000 CL30 is rock solid! If you get a decent motherboard, you might even run it at 6400 CL32 without any issues.
Just a heads up, DOCP is an Asus feature, so it's worth remembering that AMD's version is EXPO!
