Why Won’t My New PC Boot from My SSD?

I just built my first PC, and so far, so good! Everything seems to be set up properly, and I can access the BIOS. However, I'm having trouble booting from my USB drive that has the Windows installation media on it. Instead of booting, it just sends me back to the BIOS. Here are my specs:

- MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk
- AMD Ryzen 9 9600x
- Lexar 2TB NVMe SSD with heatsink

Interestingly, I took an old SSD from one of my laptops, and it booted to Windows without any issues. I'm not sure if my Lexar SSD is faulty since the BIOS recognizes it as fine and ready. I even ran a self-test, and it indicated there were no problems. Also, just to clarify, I've set the USB drive as the first boot priority.

First things first, did you actually make the USB bootable? Sometimes people just copy the installer over instead of creating a bootable drive. Make sure to use a tool to properly set it up. Also, you might want to double-check your boot priority settings in the BIOS to ensure it's trying to boot from the USB first. About your old SSD, it likely had Windows pre-installed, which is why it booted just fine.

I thought I made it bootable, but maybe I messed it up. I’ll check my BIOS settings again too.

Don’t forget to enable the 'boot from USB' option in your BIOS settings. This is crucial for booting from your installation media. If you haven't done this, that's an easy fix!
