No Video Signal After GPU Upgrade – Is My PSU to Blame?

Hey everyone! I've been running into issues with my PC after I recently upgraded to a 5070 ti graphics card. I have a Thermalright SFX 850W power supply, which should be more than sufficient for this setup. It has a 12vhpwr port along with the required cable and is supposed to deliver up to 400W through that connection. However, I've been experiencing a lack of video signal intermittently when I try to power up. Sometimes switching to the built-in GPU works, and other times, after switching back to the Nvidia GPU, it does start but only sometimes. I even tried using the 12vhpwr connector that came with the PSU but switched to using a 2x PCIe to 12vhpwr adapter that the GPU came with, which helped for a while, but now I'm back to having problems. I did some research and found that it might indicate the PSU isn't able to deliver enough power. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds more like the 12V cable might be failing on you. If it was working and suddenly stopped, that's often a sign. You might want to test it with another cable if you have one lying around just to rule that out.

But if that was the case, why would switching to the 2x PCIe connection help for a bit? It’s a bit puzzling.
