I'm building a completely new PC tomorrow and will not be using any of my old drives. My current setup runs Windows 10 Pro, and I have no idea where my product key is. My question is, if I sign in to my Microsoft account during the fresh install, will it automatically recognize my digital license and upgrade me to Windows 11 Pro for free? It shows on my old PC that Windows is activated with a digital license linked to my account.

It really depends on how you got Windows 10. If you bought it yourself, you should be able to upgrade without issues. Just log in to your Microsoft account after installation, and it should activate automatically. However, if Windows 10 came pre-installed, that license might not carry over. So make sure you find out how you originally got it!
As long as your Windows 10 license is linked to your Microsoft account and shows as activated, you should be fine. Just make sure to log in during the install process, and the system should recognize it and let you upgrade to Windows 11 for free!
Thanks for the reassurance! I'll definitely make sure to log in.
Yeah, definitely check if your copy was retail or pre-installed. If it was retail, you're likely in good shape for the upgrade.
